thredUP Purge Surge: Summer 2017

What’s going into, and coming out of, closets this summer.

Each season, women across the country refresh their closets — shipping out their once-loved items to find new homes, and purchasing new styles to meet their shifting tastes. With 14M items received annually and over 30K items purchased each day, thredUP.com has the inside scoop on what brands and styles are on the rise versus those that are being retired.

“Leading up to summer, we’ve uncovered a few surprising trends — and some not-so surprising,” says Kathleen Weng, VP of Merchandising at thredUP. ” Sneakers are of course trending, and Victoria Secret’s now discontinued swimwear line is flying off our shelves. On the flip side, women are clearing out their cropped and capri jeans.”

This year’s Summer Purge Surge list highlights the brands and styles that saw the highest increase in either sales to thredUP (purged), or purchases from thredUP (trending) in the past three months.
