May 20, 2026 (Oakland, CA. and New York, NY.) – Steve Madden Ltd., a leading designer and marketer of fashion-forward footwear, accessories, and apparel, today announced the launch of dedicated resale shops and a closet clean out program across three of its brands—Steve Madden, Dolce Vita, and Betsey Johnson—powered by ThredUp’s Resale-as-a-Service® (RaaS®).
These new initiatives make it easy for customers to extend the life of their clothing and accessories by reselling gently-worn items for shopping credit, while also offering a curated selection of pre-loved styles directly through each brand’s digital resale shop.
The full-circle platform is powered by ThredUp’s RaaS, which enables leading fashion brands and retailers to deliver customizable, scalable resale experiences. Through this partnership, Steve Madden Ltd. is advancing its commitment to more responsible consumption by keeping products in circulation longer and offering customers a seamless way to both clean out their closets and shop secondhand. Steve Madden Ltd. joins more than 50 brands offering resale programs through ThredUp’s RaaS, including Reformation, FARM Rio, Pact, and Athleta.
How the Program Works
Sell Back Your Items
Through the clean out programs, customers can earn shopping credit for sending in gently-worn items.
Customers can generate a prepaid shipping label online, and for Steve Madden and Dolce Vita, clean out bags are also available in select retail stores.
Participants can fill any shippable box or bag with apparel, shoes, handbags, and accessories from any brand and send it to ThredUp for free.
Once items sell, customers receive brand-specific shopping credit that can be redeemed both online and, where applicable, in-store.
Shop Pre-Loved Styles
Each brand’s digital resale shop will launch on April 27 and live on their respective websites. Developed in collaboration with ThredUp, these shops allow customers to browse and purchase pre-loved items directly from the brands they love.
This integrated experience ensures a consistent brand environment while offering a more sustainable way to shop.
